Business Line Radheshyam Jadhav 53% of cadastral maps are digitised: Rural Development Ministry About 90 per cent of villages in India have computerised the Records of Right (RoR), the basic primary record that shows land rights and property transactions. About 53 per cent of cadastral maps showing the boundaries and ownership of land parcels have been digitised, the Ministry of Rural Development told the Rajya Sabha on December 13. The Centre, through the Digital lndia Land Records Modernisation Programme (DILRMP), is providing financial assistance to the States for the computerisation of land records. “Till date, the computerisation of RoR has been completed in 5,91,221 (90 per cent) villages out of 6,55,959 villages across the country, and 66,60,226 (53 per cent) cadastral maps have been digitised out of 1,24,92,526 cadastral maps,” the Ministry stated. This can be used for purchasing goods and services of up to Rs 10,000. Says Murali Nair, President of Zeta’s Banking Business, “This is the most encouraging cash replacement action that RBI has taken in recent times. This will bring on board new customers that stayed away from digital payments.” Bank backing : A PPI is issued with the backing of a bank as the sponsor. The amount can be loaded in a new PPI only from your bank account. Adds Nair, “RBI should allow PPIs to be intermediaries for digitally distributing these new cards. They can scale up and encourage customers to opt for it.” These PPIs can be issued on the basis of minimum details sourced from the customer. According to Taiwan-based portal DigiTimes that cited people familiar with the situation, the Apple team working on the AR/VR project has been temporarily disbanded and "reassigned to other product lines". "Supply chain-related companies said that Apple is adjusting R&D resources, and the development team for AR/VR headsets has been disbanded and transferred to other product lines," claimed the report. It suggests that the discontinuation of the AR project happened after Microsoft HoloLens co-creator Avi Bar-Zeev left as Apple's AR headset development team in January.
