The China-Pakistan bio-weapons hoax was a shoddy example of fake news

Tribune August 06, 2020   China and Pakistan were once again victimised by a fake news information warfare attack late last month that was clearly connected to the Indian intelligence services. An Australian   “ investigative journalism ”   website called   The Klaxon   released a   “ report ”   alleging that the two were secretly conspiring with one another to create banned biological weapons, coincidentally at the Wuhan laboratory that’s been in the news quite a lot ever since the Covid-19 outbreak sparked theories that it actually originated at that facility. The outlet claimed to have been fed this tip by  “ highly credible intelligence sources ” , including what they described as one  “ senior intelligence source ” . More specifically, they said that some of these supposed sources also came from  “ the Indian subcontinent ” , which says all that’s needed about the origin of this fake news scandal. Google CEO Sundar Pichai is open to paying more taxes

The Indian Express Jan 24, 2018 Google is willing to pay more tax globally, Sundar Pichai, the chief executive officer of the largest business unit of Alphabet Inc, said Wednesday at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. “We are happy to pay more tax, whatever the world agrees to,” Pichai said. But he said the question was where Google should pay it. Critics have accused large US technology companies like Google of paying too little tax outside the US, despite deriving a large portion of their revenue from these other countries. Pichai said that as Google hired more engineers globally – for instance, in France, where Google said this week that it would add more engineering and research staff – it would equalize the distribution of its tax payments across different countries. Artificial Intelligence can boost revenues by 38%, employment by 10%: Accenture

The Economic Times January 23, 2018  If businesses invest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and human-machine collaboration at the same rate as top-notch companies, they could boost revenues by 38 per cent by 2022 and raise employment levels by 10 per cent, a new report said on Tuesday.  Collectively, this would lift profits by $4.8 trillion globally over the same period, said the Accenture Strategy report released here during the world Economic Forum (WEF).  "For the average S&P500 company, this equates to $7.5 billion of revenues and a $880 million lift to profitability," the report noted.  Seventy two percent of the 1,200 senior executives surveyed said intelligent technology will be critical to their organisation's market differentiation and 61 per cent noted that the share of roles requiring collaboration with AI will rise in the next three years.  "To achieve higher rates of growth in the age of AI, companies need to invest more i...
