Voting from Haryana was zero in favour of referendum
-2020 initiated by Sikh for Justice led by Sikh separatist and Khalistani supporter
Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, based in USA. In
the name of referendum, no Sikhs prefer to talk or discuss even in favour of
Khalistan around gurudwara. Pannu had claimed to start voting in favour of
Khalistan from this gurudwara on 11 July. Security was tight and the police was keeping
vigil on each every activity. Policemen were present around the gurudwara in civil
dress. Section-144 was imposed there, but no devotee was prevented from going
to the gurudwara. Devotees worshiped regularly as usual.
The Ministry of Home Affairs had banned the SFJ for
advocating Referendum 2020, an online campaign to demand Khalistan, which seeks
a separate homeland for the Sikhs. It is also worth mentioning here that SFJ is
supported by Pakistan based handler to provide money and logistical support to
radical Sikh elements to carry out subversive activities.
Designated US based terrorist Pannu made the voter
registration announcement through an audio, putting state Police and central
security agencies in a tizzy. For the last 15 days, Sikh Sangat was being provoked
in the name of Sikh religion to vote for the referendum through a recorded
audio phone call from abroad. In his audio message, Pannu had been appealing to
the Sikhs to vote in favour of the referendum-2020 on 11 July, Saturday at the Sikh
shrine in Kurukshetra.
Following this audio, the administration was on
alert and security arrangements were tightened around the gurdwara. Barricades
were fixed from the gurudwara to Ambedkar Chowk to prevent any untoward incident. Not
only was this, in view of the seriousness of the case, stay in rented rooms in
gurudwara was restricted.
Talking to
reporters, Manager of gurudwara, Amrinder Singh said that the so-called event of
voting was merely a rumour announced by Sikh for Justice. He said that the
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee does not support any such event and an
appeal has also been made to the Sikh Sangat to avoid such rumours.
According to
Superintendent of Police Aastha Modi, the police was fully alert after the
audio message. The police was monitoring every situation. Every activity
continues in the gurudwara in a peaceful manner regularly. There was Nakabandi
on road, coming from Punjab side. Each and every one was being checked. Special
security arrangements were made in the security of gurudwara and followers.
