China port container volumes return to normal in late May

During the last ten days period of May, the cargo throughput of major Chinese ports kept increasing and posted an increase of 0.9% year-on-year.

Ningbo-Zhoushan port is bringing a new 70,000 tonne-class container berth into operation in July.
The overall container throughput and international container cargo volume of eight major Chinese ports increased 20% and 18% respectively comparing to middle May, resuming to around 98% and 96% of the volume in the same period of last year.
The crude oil shipments at major coastal ports increased 15.43% year-on-year. The iron ore shipments at major ports increased 6% compared year-on-year, among which the growth rate of Ningbo-Zhoushan port and Qingdao port exceeded 10%.

The port business along Yangtze river continued recovering in late May. The cargo throughput of three major ports, Nanjing, Wuhan and Chongqing, has reached the same level of last year’s while the container volume resumed to 98%.
The berth, located at Chuanshan port area of Ningbo-Zhoushan port, with a water frontage of 330 meters, has a designed annual handling capacity of 620,000 teu.
Chuanshan port area mainly services for container and large size bulk cargos, as well as LNG and oil products, which is a key port area of Ningbo-Zhoushan port. It launched the operation of rail terminal at Chuanshan port this year, which could further improve the overall sea-rail combined cargo transportation capacity of Ningbo-Zhoushan port.

With the operation of the new berth, Chuanshan port area will have eleven container berths.
Last year, Chuanshan port area recorded 10.35m teu in container throughput.

As financial insecurity rises in urban India, so does investment in insurance

Up to 58% of them fret over financial independence post retirement, which is a 4% increase from last year.
