Serial blasts convict 'Dr Bomb' goes missing during parole, police launch manhunt

The Mumbai Police and Maharashtra ATS have launched a manhunt to trace one of the most wanted terrorists in the country. Dr Jalees Ansari, also known as Dr Bomb, has been accused of plotting and executing over 50 bomb blasts across the country since early 90s. And he has gone missing during parole.

Ansari, who is serving a life term in Ajmer jail, was visiting his family in Mumbai on parole and was due to report back at the prison on Friday morning.

On Thursday, Ansari's family members in Mominpada approached the Agripada police station in Mumbai and said that he had gone missing.

According to police officials, Ansari left for early morning namaz at around 5 am but did not return home.

It was only after several hours had passed and his phone was found to be switched off.

The Agripada police then sent an SOS alert at the police control room about Ansari and the same was passed to Maharashtra ATS.

The Mumbai crime branch, Maharashtra ATS and other wings of Mumbai police launched a massive manhunt to trace and nab Ansari. Mumbai police control room along with the state control and the CCTV control room of Mumbai police had been alerted to look for Ansari.

Dr Jalees Ansari "Dr Bomb" has been convicted in the Jaipur serial blasts, Ajmer blasts and Malegaon blast case. He was was one of the terorrists who had undergone terror training in Pakistan in the early nineties.

A medical doctor by profession, he was indoctrinated by another terrorist Abdul Karim Tunda. The module created by Ansari was responsible for carrying out several serial blasts across the country to avenge the demolition of Babri Masjid. Blasts had been carried out in Hyderabad, Malegaon, Ajmer, Pune, Rajdhani Express and various other places across the country.


Ansari, an expert in TNT and timer bombs, was convicted in the Ajmer blasts case and was presently serving life sentences in the case. He was released on parole from the prison on an SC order last month on December 28. He was supposed to report back at the Ajmer prison on January 17 that is on Friday but he went missing in on Thursday morning.

A resident of Mominpada in Mumbai, Ansari was a doctor working with the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) when he came in touch with Abdul Karim Tunda who sent him for terror training in Pakistan.

Ansari was responsible for creating a module with the banned outfits SIMI (Students Islamic Movement of India), HuJI (Harkat ul Mujahideen) and Indian Mujahideen (IM) which had indoctrinated several persons across India and later were held responsible for carrying several blasts.
