The civil-military leadership has reiterated Pakistan’s “unshakable” political, diplomatic and moral support to the people of India Occupied Kashmir (IOK) who have been living under complete lockdown for over five-months following the abrogation of its special status.

The resolution comes during a high-level huddle chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Thursday which reviewed all aspects of the situation in the disputed territory.

“The meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, SAPM [Special Assistant to the Prime Minister] Dr Moeed Yousaf, DG ISI Lt-Gen Faiz Hamid, Foreign Secretary Sohail Mehmood and other senior military and civilian officials,” said an official statement issued by the Prime Minister Office.

The participants condemned India’s inhuman clampdown of 8 million Kashmiris for over 160 days and “the egregious human rights violations of Kashmiris by over 900,000 Indian occupation forces”.

On August 5 last year, India stripped the disputed valley of its special autonomy it had for seven decades through a rushed presidential order.

Kashmiris see the move as an attempt to dilute the demographics of Muslim-majority Kashmir with Hindu settlers.

Pakistan had strongly condemned the move and vowed to “exercise all possible options to counter the illegal steps” taken by New Delhi.

The meeting also denounced the “threat posed to peace and security by the BJP government’s belligerent rhetoric and aggressive actions on the ground”.

It was underlined that the RSS-inspired Modi government’s ‘Hindutva’ mindset, with its anti-Muslim and anti-Kashmiri obsession, was responsible for creating a perilous situation for regional peace and stability, the communique added.

The participants welcomed the consideration of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in the UN Security Council on Wednesday, noting that “it reflected the international community’s recognition of the seriousness of the situation”.

It was also decided to observe the Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5 in a befitting manner, the statement concluded.

As financial insecurity rises in urban India, so does investment in insurance

Up to 58% of them fret over financial independence post retirement, which is a 4% increase from last year. ED tracks Swiss Bank A/Cs of Agusta scamster

The Poineer February 10,2019 Rakesh K Singh The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has tracked a dozen Swiss bank accounts in the name of Rajiv Saxena, who is key accused in the Rs 3,600 crore AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scam. The ED has also found out accounts held by  his family members and associates where the kickbacks in the now scrapped deal were allegedly parked. Two bank accounts are in the name of Rajiv Saxena’s  associates Pankaj Jain and Sumita Jain who are also the authorised signatories. The  third is in the name of another associate Ajit Singh Bubber, but Rajiv and his family members are authorised signatories. The remaining nine accounts are largely owned and operated by Rajiv, his family members and associates. Rajiv Saxena was deported by the UAE authorities on January 30 and the ED formally arrested him the next day and a court later granted his remand to the agency.
