Consulting, finance, sales and marketing firms are key recruiters at IIM-B summer placement

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) Monday said that it has completed its summer placement with over 100 companies making 446 offers to its students in domains including marketing, finance and consulting.
IIM-B said, of all the offers made, 127 were for the consulting domain from firms like Bain & Co (19), Accenture Strategy (18), Boston Consulting Group (13), AT Kearney (12), McKinsey & Co (11) and Nomura Consulting (6).
While 79 offers were for marketing roles, 72 were for the finance and investment domains and 58 offers were in the broad domain of Information and Technology. There were 11 offers made in the Analytics by firms like American Express (4) and United Health Group and 16 offers from the operations sector including five from taxi aggregator Uber.
Of the 72 offers were made by finance, banking and investments sector, Goldman Sachs made 13 offers, Avendus Capital (7), Citibank (5) , JP Morgan (5) and Bajaj Finserv made four offers. The elite B-School received 33 offers from e-commerce firms with Amazon making the maximum 24 offers.
To be sure, summer placements are not same as final placement but indicative of how the recruitment season at campuses may unfold over the next three months.
“The entire process of summer placements was completed in record time due to process improvements in resume verification and effective management of pre-placement talks and interview schedules by the Student Placement Committee and the Career Development Services office," said U. Dinesh Kumar, professor in charge of the placement at IIM-B.
“There is an increase in international offers made by many regular and new recruiters this year. The intake in Technology and Product Management domain has gone up as compared to previous years," said Newton Bishoyi, a student Placement representative at the B-School.
