Tribune May 26, 2020 LONDON:  Prime Minister Boris Johnson is planning to reduce Chinese telecoms equipment maker Huawei Technologies Co Ltd’s involvement in Britain’s 5G network in the wake of the coronavirus crisis, the Daily Telegraph newspaper reported. Johnson has asked officials to make plans to reduce China’s involvement in British infrastructure to zero by 2023, the newspaper reported late on Friday. Johnson is expected to use less reliance on China as a means to boost trade talks with US President Donald Trump in the aftermath of Britain’s departure from the European Union, according to the newspaper. Downing Street declined to comment. Huawei did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Firstpost Tuesday, May 26, 2020 People are more worried about the economic crisis than health issues emanating from coronavirus pandemic, according to an online study conducted by IIM Lucknow on "Understanding public sentiment during lockdown". The study - conducted by Centre for Marketing in Emerging Economies (CMEE) at IIM Lucknow - revealed that majority (79 percent) of people are worried and surrounded by a feeling of fear (40 percent) and sadness (22 percent). The study, based on responses of participants from 104 cities across 23 states, said the majority of respondents are worried about the economic impact of the lockdown. The other dominant fear among the people is the irrational behaviour of people, once the lockdown is lifted. "Worries of economic impact are topmost in mind of people (32 percent) while fear of others behaving irresponsibly during lockdown (15 percent) and the uncertainty of it all (16 percent) are the other key fears. ...

Sources in the know told ThePrint that the localised deployment is to ensure the Chinese are not allowed to exploit anything that might just escalate the tension . They underlined that the extra deployment is being done through existing troops in the region and none has been brought in from outside. “In some of the places, the Chinese are challenging the LAC. And hence we have undertaken preventive deployment in multiple places so that there is no advantage for the other side. The CMIE weekly date showed the unemployment rate in rural India increased to 25.09 per cent against 22.79 per cent the previous week. The unemployment rate in urban areas declined from 26.95 to 22.72 in this period. The unemployment rate nationally increased from 24.01 to 24.34, suggesting one in four persons had nothing to do. The return of migrants to their villages may have pushed up the rural unemployment rate. At the same time, some factories and shops have started operation in urban areas in the past week.
